AMERICAN TOUR FOR N.S.W DELEGATE PDF Print E-mail
It was the trip of a lifetime for N.S.W. FATSIL delegate Emily Walker, who last November took part in a five week cultural exchange tour of the United States. Along with three other ambassadors for Australian Indigenous culture, Emily travelled across the country from California to New York. The group visited schools and Indian Reservations, where various aspects of Aboriginal and Islander Culture were shared with appreciative audiences.
With Emily were Eileen Campbell, (wife of the late Robert Campbell junior), who gave presentations on Australian Indigenous Art; Mary Duroux discussing poetry and Eve Pikler, a Javanese singer, leading workshops on music and song. Emily herself shared her knowledge of our language and culture. New friendships were of course made during the tour, and Emily and the other group members are now looking forward to a return visit by two women from Ventura and Ojai, who plan a trip to Uluru this August.
