A new exhibition opened last month at the Yugambeh Museum - Language and Heritage Research Centre at Beenleigh, south of Brisbane.

This display of maps, newsprint, documents and photographs dating back to last century, traces a history of family groups in the Yugambeh Language region. Many local families were pleased to recognize ancestors in the display.

Following this, and timed to coincide with National Heritage Week, is an exciting exhibition entitled "Gaurema - The Yugambehnga Story".

The new exhibition shows how Yugambeh people have shared and contributed to the social, cultural and economic development of South East Queensland.

It was opened on April 24th by the Queensland Minister for the Arts, Joan Sheldon.
