'Bringing them home' boosts language funds PDF Print E-mail
The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Senator John Herron has announced a $9million boost to language maintenance programs.

The Government's response to the Report into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from their Families involves the release of the $9million of ATSIC funds over a three year period.

A number of the recommendations contained in Bringing them Home, the report from the national inquiry, proposed increased support for indigenous language, culture and history centres.

Guidelines have yet to be established for distribution, and ATSIC will be advertising availability and conditions for accessing the funds later in 1998.
