The dynamics of successful language teaching programs are highlighted in the latest video from the Western Australian Department of Education.

Living Languages. Aboriginal Language programs in Education, features colourful snapshots of the diverse teaching methods employed in a number of schools throughout the State, which are involved in the LOTE Indigenous Languages program. Through the LOTE 2000 Policy, the Education Department is committed to supporting the promotion and expansion of the teaching of Aboriginal languages. Guidelines exist for schools seeking to enter the program, to ensure the availability of resources such as local language teachers and printed material.

WA Program
The Aboriginal Language Program relies on the support and involvement of both school and community members, and invariably utilizes a team approach. The team comprises the language specialist (speaker), a class teacher and Aboriginal/ Islander Education Worker. There are 30 primary and four secondary schools implementing programs, plus six language nests operating in pre-schools and communities.
