Loss of valued colleague PDF Print E-mail

PEOPLE from the language network around Australia were saddened by the death early this year of Mrs Kathy Trimmer from Kalgoorlie.

KATHY Trimmer was deeply committed to her work as an Aboriginal linguist at Wangkanyi Ngurra Tjurta Language Centre and also served as a FATSIL delegate for Western Australia.

Kathy took every opportunity to educate and spread awareness of the depth and importance of the culture of the Wangkatha people, working in prisons and different Goldfield corporations where a significant number of Aboriginal workers were employed. Her sincere and down-to-earth approach saw doors open to a greater understanding between cultures.
