FATSIL Indigenous Languages Forum Cairns - October 2001 PDF Print E-mail

The theme of the FATSIL Language Forum and AGM for 2001 is to assist 'Stolen Generations' persons access the language of their country.

This theme will be developed through a number of panel discussions and workshops dealing with issues vital to the development and expansion of the National Indigenous Language Programs.


Included in the program will be a seminar to be run by AIATSIS, the Australian Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, Canberra.This segment of the conference will provide information on accessing archives, conservation and storage of archival materials, and best practices for recording and documenting languages.

The conference is being funded through the ATSIC Language Access Initiatives Program.

The dates for the Conference will be October 9-12, 2001, the venue will be the Rihga Colonial Club Resort, Cairns, Queensland.

Conference & workshop registration fee:

4 days — FATSIL members $ 150. If paid before August 30, 2001 a discount of $30 will apply;
4 days — Non-members $ 160. If paid before August 30, 2001 a discount of 30 will apply
Single day registration — FATSIL members $30 non-members $40
